Howard University Standard Lapel Pin: Purchase & Usage Guidelines
The official Howard University Standard Lapel Pin is a distinguished symbol of pride and affiliation with the university. Designed with a .75-inch diameter and featuring petals around the circumference, this lapel pin is appropriate for both formal and casual settings, serving as an elegant accessory for faculty, staff, students, alumni, and supporters. The pin also proudly displays Howard University's motto, "Veritas et Utilitas" (Truth and Service), reflecting our commitment to excellence and impact.
Permission for Usage
Faculty and staff requesting to purchase the Howard University Standard Lapel Pin must receive written permission via email from both Auxiliary Enterprises and the Office of University Communications to place an order. This approval process ensures that the use of the lapel pin aligns with university branding standards and preserves the integrity of Howard University’s official symbols.

A response will be sent to the requestor within five business days of submission. Please note that purchase requests must be submitted at least four to six weeks in advance to ensure timely processing and fulfillment.
Purchase Information
Departments and organizations requiring bulk orders of the lapel pin must submit requests through the Howard University Campus Store. Orders will need to be placed at least four to six weeks in advance of the need.

Individual lapel pins can be purchased in the campus bookstore.
Usage Guidelines
- The lapel pin may be worn on jackets, blazers, shirts, dresses, and other professional attire to display affiliation with Howard University.
- It is appropriate for university events, official ceremonies, alumni gatherings, conferences, and everyday professional wear.
- The pin should be worn on the left lapel or chest area for visibility and recognition.
- It should not be altered, resized, or combined with non-university symbols to maintain brand integrity.
